What blog?

I'm a neglectful blogger! And I'm a bit of a slacker as a girlfriend... Kurt's holiday gift as of this moment, over a month late...

Maybe a Valentine's gift?

Namaste

I had the nicest morning. I went over to Bev's house to do our trade -- yoga lessons for knitting lessons. So lovely! I hadn't been in months because of traveling and, well, just getting out of the routine.
She finished a lovely scarf she'd knit in the meantime for her daughter.

It turned out beautifully! It's just an acrylic boucle from Joann's in garter stitch, but the fabric it made on large needles is really pretty, lacy, and cozy. Now Bev is working of the sleeves of her first sweater, a top-down raglan yoga wrap, which we started quite awhile ago.

I worked a bit on that sparkly crochet scarf for my sister's gift.
Here I am winding up more sparkle yarn! Can I exclaim again? Sparkle yarn! It's so soft and pretty...

Gift knitting

I have some beautiful silk in my sister's favorite color... But what to make? I'll try this scarf pattern and see how it looks.

Carey's over for a knitting lesson. Yeah! Her first project is a hat. She's finished the brim and just picked up stitches to work towards the crown. Awesome!

Thank Goodness

More golf... Thank goodness I'm a knitter!

I just tag along, put-putting in the cart, but I'm making some progress on my sister's holiday present!

Darn it!

I'm down in AZ after Thanksgiving to spend some time with Kurt's family at his parents' winter home.

Everyone's playing golf...

... except for his mom Sandy and me.
I couldn't find my sweater project as we left the house, so I grabbed a pair of wool socks to darn.

The wool is a washable wool in fingering weight that I'd bought in New Zealand for the same purpose.

Good Morning!

I had a beautiful walk around the lake this morning. Here's a shot of the sun rising over the Cascade mountains:

And the full moon was still lingering in the west, peeking at me from gaps in the clouds. The sunrise was really more spectacular at the beginning of my walk -- streams of glowing, pink clouds -- but I didn't think to take a picture then.

This guy inspired my camera:
Yep, I think blue herons are really neat. I like how big they are. I saw lots of other birds, too: coots, hooded and common mergansers, grebes, wigeons, and mallard ducks.

And knitting... of course! I like to walk and knit. This morning's project was a Hanna Cowl (my free pattern on Ravelry) in Lion Brand's Wool-Ease Thick & Quick to sell at Matty's holiday show on the 19th.
It's easy. Just cast on 26 stitches, knit the first and last stitch, and work brioche in between. Then sew three buttons on one end, and push them through the loose stitches wherever you like.
