El Fundo

We are working hard at Fundo el Grillo.

It is very beautiful.

This is where we are staying:

We are working much harder than I expected.

But there's time to knit a little.

Oh, and Miss BB has some significant issues.

Look at the collar...

Martes en Quillota

Here we are in Quillota... It's not the most quaint of Chilean towns, and we are waiting here for an unknown amount of time until some one comes to take us to the farm. Kurt is reading, and I am unraveling Wisteria.

Here you can see clearly my mistake. The pattern reads, "Work row 1 of Collar and Yoke Chart 12 times.". Then it tells you to work rows 2 through 11. So I worked row 1 around for 12 rows and then commenced with the rest of the chart.

No! I frogged it. I was just supposed to repeat the 10-stitch pattern around 12 times for 1 row. Darn...

Here are some more pictures from Valparaiso. :)

Valpo

Valparaiso -- our first stop! We made it here on our first day after flying into Santiago. It's about a two hour bus ride north and to the coast.
I'm sure the pictures would be more enchanting in some summer sunshine, but it really is a very lovely city. The winter here is about like the summer weather we left in Seattle. :)
Most importantly... I found a nice yarn shop!

This is their front window display. They were closing as we walked by the first day. Today we went again with better luck.

Uh oh... A sweater's worth of sport-weight wool in a deep maroon! The owner was charming, and I think I'll "friend" her shop on Facebook, Tienda Claudia.
We spent the rest of the day walking steep, winding streets through faded Victorian neighborhoods.

It's very artsy. Here's a basement gallery. There are many little galleries and quaint cafes.

A Chile!

Waiting for our second flight in the Atlanta airport...

I'd better knit this Wisteria fast! It will be winter when I land tomorrow morning.

Goodbye!

Here are some early morning FO photos of Bree's Christmas Hippy festival hoodie. Too bad I didn't get a chance to take pictures of it modeled on someone it fits. I'm leaving for Chile this morning, and I didn't want to leave a project hanging out unresolved on my blog. :)
In the same spirit, here's a picture of my lace cardigan with her buttons on.

It's not a great picture of me, but there you go! I chose the white buttons for her and the light wooden buttons for the hoodie.
I'll try to post some pictures while I travel. Have a fun summer!

The important question...

Which buttons shall I choose?

Plastic from Mexico....

Vintage plastic...

Another vintage plastic possibility....

... Or more plastic! These are just from Jo-Ann's, but I really like them. They look like lemon candies.
